WEST MIDLANDS COMMITTEE RESPONSE TO GOVERNMENT CONSULTATION ON ADULT EDUCATION

The Government (through the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills) is reviewing ‘informal adult education’ and wants the views of everyone with an interest or involvement.

The WEA West Midlands Regional Committee has replied highlighting points particularly important for WEA members and students. Click here if you want to download a copy of their response.

WEA LEARNER WINS REGIONAL AWARD

Our congratulations go to Joyce Patrick, a learner at Worcester Study Centre. She has won the the Regional Senior Learners Award 2007, which is awarded by NIACE. Joyce has been an inspiration since joining the Study Centre in 2002 as a true example for the benefits of lifelong learning.

WOLVERHAMPTON TOUR OF CHAPELS MAKES THE PRESS

A tour of Black Country Chapels, organised by the WEA's Wolverhampton made the press. The tour included five chapels, all with different architectural styles. Ned Williams from Wolverhampton Branch organised the tour, which was very successful.

TANDRUSTI PROJECT WINS MAJOR FUNDING FROM THE BIG LOTTERY FUND

The Tandrusti Project, our successful health education project in Dudley, has won £345,457 from the Big Lottery Fund. The funding will go towards improving and expanding the range of programmes that are offered to BME communities in Dudley.
